Presented by The BlackOak Collective and directed by Malayna Nesbitt, BlackOak’s Communications Manager, Uniforms for the Unwritten Future was an Afrofuturist fashion show and storytelling experience exploring Black environmental imagination, resilience, and creativity. Through five runway segments and original designs, the show reimagined sustainability as both a cultural practice and a vision for liberation; celebrating Black artistry and collective transformation in the face of climate change.
In partnership with The Center for Cultural Power, guests received climate art handbills designed to inspire reflection and action. On the back of each handbill were QR codes linking to Cultural Power’s active campaigns and opportunities to become a member of BlackOak Collective which created a simple way to stay engaged with both communities while enjoying the show.
