Position Title: Communications Specialist, National Association of Conservation Districts’ (NACD)

Location: This position is located in NACD’s Washington, D.C. headquarters and reports to the Director of Communications.

Position Summary

This full-time position is responsible for providing assistance to the Communications Team and the Director of Communications to support the National Association of Conservation Districts’ (NACD) member conservation districts and NACD Board of Directors to advance conservation, resource development, and assist in the implementation of the association’s policies. The position supports coordination across a broad portfolio of communications and grant activities to achieve specific, project-driven outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Provide support to the Communications Team, including production, coordination, and timeline development
  • Develop and deliver communications among internal and external NACD stakeholders
  • Develop and implement distribution and tailored communications strategies
  • Bachelor’s degree in communications or related field
  • 3-5 years of relevant experience in communications, public relations, marketing, or related field
  • Experience with and understanding of working with grant-related projects
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Video scripting and production
  • Experience with and/or knowledge of conservation districts, agriculture, or environmental issues
  • Positive member service attitude and personable demeanor
  • Ability to travel
  • Support development of media relationships, outreach, and strategies
  • Support development and execution of NACD’s digital strategy, including website design, social media, and other channels
  • Produce content for print and electronic communications, including newsletters, fact sheets, case studies, and brochures
  • Assist with writing and distributing press releases, publications, and talking points
  • Conduct research, interviews, and assist in the development of supporting information of project deliverables from concept to finished product, including videos, case studies, and briefing materials
  • Coordinate and implement communications functions in support of specific grant activities
  • Monitor and coordinate timelines and deliverables for grant-related activities
  • Support coordination, production, and execution for annual meeting marketing and communication
  • Direct and coordinate high-quality videos
  • Develop timelines and meet deadlines
  • Perform other tasks as assigned in support of NACD goals and objectives
