Summary

Summit Ridge Energy (“SRE”) is seeking a Senior Accountant. We are looking to hire an experienced Senior Accountant to join our growing accounting team. Responsible for general ledger entries and balance sheet reconciliations for entities across the organization. The ideal candidate will be eager to learn and grow with the company. They will be motivated to optimize every process they touch and partner with stakeholders up and downstream.

The position is based out of our headquarters in Arlington, Virginia, and reports to the Senior Accounting Director.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Perform monthly and quarterly accounting close, including managing income statements for projects in development and projects in operation. Prepare standalone project balance sheet and income statements for project sales.
  • Manage and perform routine accounting functions such as journal entry preparation for revenue, accounts payable, payroll, prepaid expenses, and debt transactions
  • Assist with managing the company’s lease obligations and update the lease tracker for modifications
  • Prepare a weekly accounts payable report showing near-term payment obligations, aging report, and forecasted liquidity needs
  • Work with finance and operations group to provide ad-hoc accounting reports and analyze profitability against budget results
  • Liaison with external auditors, tax specialists, and consultants on technical matters
  • Support CFO and Controller in preparing budgets and analyzing short and long-term liquidity needs

Required Skills/Competencies

  • 3 – 6 years of accounting experience with a mix of external audit and general ledger accounting experience preferred
  • Active CPA license or a candidate for licensure preferred
  • Experience in renewable energy, construction, or real-estate industries is preferable
  • Experience with technical accounting topics such as revenue recognition, leasing, capitalization, debt transactions, and consolidation
  • Experience with consolidation and intercompany activities, including operational, capital, dividend, and financing transactions.
  • Experience recording or auditing transactions and generating reports from NetSuite, Oracle, or other similar general ledger systems
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written). Experience working with cross-functional departments such as finance, treasury, operations, and legal.
  • Strong problem-solving and creative skills with an ability to exercise sound judgment and make decisions based on accurate and timely analysis
  • Proficiency with Excel, PowerPoint, and Word tools
